Did it ever, though? Aside from the odd year where there's a big snow, all we ever really get is a week or two where it'll get baltic for a bit and that's usually it

Last winter it was extremely cold for maybe 10 days about 10 December but as usual the rest of the winter wasn't that cold.

yeah a couple of weeks of proper cold scattered about.

but... the bits in between are probably warmer, and the cold snaps not as cold.
