In the Academy tonight - DJs from each station playing one song each in a Mexican style stand-off, for about 2 hours. Great fun (even if the place was full of 20 year olds!). Indie classics all the way. Despite being "up for" Phantom, It made me realise that I actually probably mostly listen mostly to Today Fm - Paul McLoone weekday nights and Dave Couse Sunday nights. While Phantom wins on Tuesday nights (Jim Carroll), Sat morning (Nadine), and late Sat night (James - really good show, really good voice). Apart from 2XM and Lyric, I actually don't listen to any other radio station. Not sure where I'm going with this.... Time for bed. What radio station do you listen to I suppose?

The best thing on the telly is the radio (well, Off The Ball on Setanta).
I would be of the opinion that Donal Dineen being on Today gives them automatic win. His show is relentlessly good.

I actually think this forum is bad for my mental health , like all 'thumped is for pricks'
jokes aside. I'm out peops.Life is too short. Much love. x

I can't stand most radio. I'll listen to the odd net station that has a specialist music playlist (ska, trad or world or the like) or sometimes a discussion on RTE Radio 1, but I almost never listen to Irish music radio if I can help it. It always surprises me how many people do.

i listen to ryan tubridy, pat kenny and marian finucane. i find it hard to listen to music first thing in the morning, i need to connect with the world first and then i get sucked in to the interesting topical debates. i wouldnt dream of listening to the radio for musical satisfaction.

I go through phases of not listening to the radio (playing cds instead) but always come back to it again. I suppose it can be good company. It has become so request driven though. I miss Xfm from back in the day - that Sunday afternoon show with Richie and Mattie cursin' their heads off and being highly amusing.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. . .

I only listen to the radio if I've sent something in to be played, the ads give me a pain in my face. Can't hack TV at all any more either for the same reason. Smaller stations with no ads like Raidio na Life or the college radio station here in Galway are easier to listen to.. but I still usually only get my shit together to tune in on time for the shows I like if I think I might hear my own band. If I'm in the mood for hearing stuff I don't know but might like I use the last.fm recommendations stream. The internet is a dream come true for the disorganised - even as a child with feck all else to be doing I still only managed to catch John Kenny on Sunday evenings about once a month.

Just realised I've missed the Sunday night metal thing on Raidio Na Life just now. Argh

TV sucks cant watch it anymore..

..Music Radio generally sucks....but can be great...like Dublin City Fm at various times....Radio Na Life likewise ...4fms 3-4 where they let a member of the public program the whole hour...Ronan Collins sometimes...Lyric plays lovely music when it wants.....Dave Couse on Sundays on Today fm..........and I do love Spin (for the tunes, cant stand the teenyspeak presenters).

Can not abide Phantom.......An abortion of a radio station.

Fuck indie rock in its hole.

Just gimme rock and pop.

It seems a bit shit tbh....the stuff they play on Phantom anyway...

I haven't listened to Phantom in years, does it actually have a playlist, like an A, B and C playlist kind of thing, or do the presenters play what they like? I'm trying to find it on their website but no luck so far
