The Russian invasion of Ukraine (38 Viewers)

ah, indeed it is:

UK has taken a new tack. As broadcast through various news outlets.

Someone on the radio said earlier that the UK hasn't forgotten Litvinenko or the Salisbury poisonings and Russia can't be trusted. Of course that's not the sort of thing you could say to Trumps face, but maybe the info might filter through. As in, they can't "do a deal".

Overt to anyone to understands anything, but quite subtle to Trumps coterie.

thought experiment

the americans are attempting to strong-arm the ukrainians into some kind of ceasefire. at the same time, the british are telling them to keep on fighting.

yesterday the ukrainians blew up the sudzha gas pipeline. presumably the russians had given warnings beforehand that this was a no-no. the entire sudzha/kursk invasion operation has been mainly a british-backed undertaking.

and then, today, the whole of heathrow airport is thrown into chaos because of a mysterious electrical substation fire.

there are plenty of ridiculous accusations that get thrown around that there are secret russian plots everywhere you look. but this is the first time in a while where it would seem reasonable that this actually *is* a russian plot. especially because it is explicitly *not* being referred to as such by outlets like the guardian or the bbc. this seems like a very quid-pro-quo kind of outcome. you blow up our pipeline, we kneecap your airport.

just thinking out loud about it. would seem to make some sense, but who knows.

I kinda think that Donald trump thinks he's doing a deal with Putin, and Putin is gonna take the piss out of him.

This post was 3 weeks ago

Putin again rejected the ceasefire deal. You know what country DOESNT have a new US Tariff? Russia.

So Putin is 3 weeks later doing whatever the fuck he was already doing, meanwhile Trump's tantrum of achieving fuck all in 100 days (he has 23 days left of his first 100) is manifesting as trade wars that some billionaire said this week is likely to cause an economic nuclear winter within a few months.

But like he's playing 5d chess and all this will 100% not be a disaster in 3 week time.

i think part of the reason russia doesn't have a tariff (as well as the one way bromance) is because they're not allowed export anything to the states so there's no trade deficit there; which was the main driver behind tariffs in the first place.

Russia being the only place on earth without tariffs would be well positioned now to be a filter for more or less everything being made in china and similar nations, making Putin richer and more powerful than ever, which he'll hate i'm sure.
