went to the elephant and castle the other night to celebrate the boy and his twins birthday with his family...chicken wings were amazing..i dont think i could ever eat enough of them..burger for main course wasnt the may west..and they asked how i wanted it cooked!!!

yeah its always jammers but if you go in early on in the day that you wanna eat there, you can book a table for that night..its a pretty crazy way of doin things but its alwyas so busy i doubt they care..but you should make every effort to eat there..seriously their chicken wings are just the best thing ive ever eaten..

Had dinner in Nonna Valentina on the quays/portobello last week. It's the new posh version of Dunne and Crescendi's and it's really not that great. Food is not as good as D&C's (and more expensive), service was kind of annoying. Avoid I say, avoid.

Had lunch in the Avoca café in town.
Great food, great service. Loads (I counted six) of pregnant women, and loads of women with tiny (<6 months) but eerily well-behaved babies.

The Dubliner restaurant guide calls it the headquarters of Mna na hEireann.

Gdoink, that's what happens when you have lunch in a store that specialises in stylish maternity and childrenswear!

Went to L'Geuleton on Fade St. for dinner yesterday. The menu is a bit small but everything on it is really good, and posh too. I had a dish of braised lettuce with artichoke, asparagus, mushroom and so on. All the veggies were juicy and cooked to perfection, but for €15 I would have liked a bit more of everything, especially as it all tasted so good. The boy had some chicken malarkey, which apparently was delicious. Sexy desserts too.

A very professional standard of service as well and John Coltrane playing at a low volume. However, their artwork looked like it was someone's girlfriend's leaving cert art project. A large blackboard with a bad chalk drawing of a restaurant scene is just a big, ugly waste of space. So apart from their art game, all good.

and Kath Kidston products.
Oh Kath, I love your Kidston ways.

i've been there a couple of times and really liked it. i actually found the portions reasonable enough, though i think i ordered something fairly rich and stodgetastic both times (eg pork belly). and their desserts rock, and i'm not even much of a dessert person.

top tip: even if they're full, they'll sometimes have seats at the bar, and you can order from the full menu. it's not quite as cosy, but you still get lovely grub.

I was in the Chinese restuarant on Moore St with the big lanterns outside. I had Broccoli with double seafood, some rice and a Tsing Tsao for 11 quid. Yum yum yum. It's my favourite place to eat.

11 quid!!! Beat that Wagamamamamama, CBD etc etc etc

Is that the bring-your-own-beer place? Probably not if you got a Tsing Tsao...
Anyway, the bring-you-own-beer Chinese on Moore Street is the best restaurant in the world! I had a veritable vegan feast in there last Saturday. And where else would they let a party of 31 sit together? Deadly place, and cheap, and it's next door to Lidl for the Lidl beer. Tis not often that I'm tempted to move to Dubland but that place could convince me. Yuuuuuuum...

those places R amazing, totally deadly. You have to crawl home you're so full.

I give them 8.5/10

How's that place for vegetarians? I'm not one but the missus is, so I'm not gonna drag her there if there only one thing she can eat ....

brought the boy to the trocadero last night for his birthday..it was so so good..so reasonable too..only 70 blips for 4 drinks, 2 yummy starters and 2 main courses with extra veggies..i challenge anyone to find better mashed potatoes in dublin!

Two veggie starters and two veggie mains. The menu is a print-out page rather than a laminated affair so that would suggest they change it around regularly I suppose, but the other night the starters were:

Onion soup thing
Shallot tart with parmesan

and the mains were:
Beetroot and lentil dish with goat's cheese n stuff
Braised lettuce & slow roasted tomato with artichoke, asparagus, mushroom, potato (nyom nyom)
