I am sure he is being a hypocrite (I don't listen to him).
I'd say a lot more than 4% of the world population has flown outside their own country.
but the vast majority of people have never flown on a plane.

I have never been on a plane myself and haven't been outside Ireland since 1992.
until the mid 90's it was very expensive to travel by air.

the air travel industry needs to be hugely scaled back - I'll leave it at that.

I don't think he's making the point to well but i get it.

The top 10% wealthy of europe are the top 10% polluters in the world, and that is *our aspiration. We are effectively finding a pea under out mattresses at present.

Different problem though? Dublin the is the airport itself at issue not the individual airlines and their checkins.

yeah, this. People couldn't even get into the terminal. Once in they then had to join a different queue depending on whether they were checking in luggage or not, or whether they had to do an in-person checkin or not.

what's the proplem at the airports are they still short on staff or what?
its a confluence of a bunch of things

- bad management
- firing loads of staff during the pandemic
- trying to rehire staff on shit terms
- inexperienced staff at security gates leading to slow bag checks
- volume of people travelling
- bad management

Both things can be true at the same time.

He can be driving a range rover and be a hyprocrite and europe can still be at the forefront of hyperconsumption. One doesn't negate the other
i think they have an electric car too, the range rover (it's an old one i think) is there for the workshorse stuff like pulling a horsebox.

how environmentally friendly are horses anyway? they don't belch methane IIRC.
