I think I've come round to the Telecaster (1 Viewer)

Never played a bolt on les paul/SG, but my "strat" is a bolt on and it is the nicest feeling guitar i have.

There must be something ambiguous about a particular guitar that just feels right. #amirite?

I've never actually owned a gibson style LP/SG (have played them obviously)- I actually originally was toying with sticking a gibson scale length neck on a strat or a tele and trying to fit a tunomatic or a modified mustang bridge.
In some cases the cost of a bolt on neck was almost as much as the kit cost.

to finish this story - finished article.

pickups are a GFS mean 90 in the bridge, and a dream 90 in the neck. Two flavours of the p90-like humbucker sized jobs. Master vol and tone (50s wired) with series and parallel switching. the combination of both is interesting.

will have to go back and refit/file the nut at some point - action on the low e is a little high at 1st 2nd fret - but totally play able set up wise overall - action and intonation grand otherwise.

serious aul 'keranng' out of it - maple bolt on neck makes it very lively. every time I pick it up I end up playing power chords

turns out wood is actually just a higher grade, slightly harder darker coloured version of basswood - but grand really at the price point. sounds nice acoustically, a little on the soft side for an un-lacquered guitar.

Nice. I spent a long time looking at a white troublemaker tele on adverts a couple of months ago. It was eventually withdrawn, and as previously reported, i got a bit pissed and ordered a Squire Thinline.

Needed a bit of setting up, but I'm really happy. Looking forward to trying it loud with the lads soon.

Loverly
Maple top? Or ash?

I got a good few Thomann vouchers for the burday back in May. I'm adding to my account bit by bit and I'm 99% going to get a Mexican Tele. I'd pretty much decided on a black on black with a maple neck but I went into Waltons to check them out IRL and saw a white on white one with a maple neck. Blooming gorg.

Building another one… sure what else would I be doing. Probably be on here trying to flog it in 6 months…
Finishing done - very happy with the front and neck/headstock - some problems with the back has led to a very small piece of inadvertent relicing which I may have to revisit. Now just have to drill a pile of holes without making a balls of it. E5233D7F-CD01-46E8-A1BE-F2FB071507C3.jpeg
