An old man who had been very ill for years has died. Apparently he was a corrupt bastard.

As with the death of Liam Lawlor, the guarded tributes are pouring in. In cases like these, it's always intersting how comments can be read in several ways.... Twas Harney I think who referred to his "inventive initiatives". Indeed.

Anyway, sure. I think Enda Kenny was right when he said there'll be other days to debate the politics of the man, but for now it's kinda more important to just pay respects to the Haughey - the husband, the father, the grandfather - on his passing. Which I think it fair enough.

My Dad's awful upset by it though. I'm sure there have been many people of a similar age weeping throughout the country all morning.
