Wireless internet (1 Viewer)

Whoever makes the eircom router (netopia I think) uses an algorithm that takes the router's SSID (the name ya see when ya do a scan for a wireless network) and uses the 8 numbers after the word "eircom" to generate the WEP key for the router. So if the person using the router hasn't changed the name of the router e.g. eircom1234 5678 to something different anyone can come along, take those 8 numbers and stick them into the algorithm to get the WEP key and connect to their network.

Regardless of that, even if they do change it, ya can still crack a WEP "secured" router in a couple of minutes i.e. change the security to WPA or WPA2 in the router's settings.
