Changes the whole perspective really.

They weren't hurting anyone so I don't really see the fuss, maybe she just has that kink, group sex in public with multiple strangers, similar to people who get off on 'dogging'? None of anyone elses business.
"..Irish Times understands the girl’s complaint, made verbally to gardaí while in a distressed state at the venue, does not relate to the events depicted in any of the photographs or videos that subsequently emerged.."
Its a shite state of affairs, how is this womans complaint going to get a fair hearing after all the lambasting shes been getting?
That makes you a 'fucking prude' then apparently, at least according to Egg.I would be absolutely fucking appalled if I saw anyone wantonly performing sex acts in full view of everyone. .
Well if the complaint were something as horrendous as gang rape or a sexual encounter that developed into an assault after consent was withdrawn by the woman, the defense is going to say 'shes a slut yer honor'. This woman won't get justice due to a society thats says she was 'leading men on' by indulging her sexual appetites. Sex without consent is assault but with the 'slut' tagging going on people are going to overlook her withdrawal of consent.

bah, I think this letter gets it wrong. There'll always be mysogyny, but for me that wasn't the over-riding reaction at all.
I think she's right. Initially at least it was all about LOOK AT WHAT SHE'S DOING.http://www.irishtimes.com/debate/letters/sickened-by-slane-video-reaction-1.1501351

Yes but its not for others to participate in taking photos and making a video. The people looking on didn't sign a non-disclosure agreement of course but you have to expect some kind of honor among festival-goers surely? Anyway, the acts themselves are fairly run of the mill stuff, its the culture thats titliated by them thats at fault here. What 17 year old woman hasn't given out a few blowies and what young man hasn't received them?
Its the double standard of holding these four people to account for the simple act of having enjoyable sex when everyone is at it themselves, or at the very least would like to be. Theres definitely a large dollop of sour grapes in this situation, people simply narked to see youth expressing its sexuality, in your face, as nature intended.
Indeed.Great stuff pete.

Letter says: "..I felt a mixture of horror, anger and deep sadness.."
My response to that is 'so what'? Feel those things all you want, it doesn't change anything. Other peoples capacity to feel or be offended (by anything) is not relevant here.

This thread has generated tens of thousands of visits over the last few days from people looking for photos & videos of the incident, which is bumping up the Adsense ad revenues, which I'll be donating to the Rape Crisis Centre.
Maybe if we all considered other peoples capacity to feel and be offended we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place.
