The Office (US) appreciation thread. (1 Viewer)

so i've found that this has become one of my favourite tv programs ever, series 3 is just wall to wall classics.

i've found its well worth buying the dvd sets as the deleted scenes are almost always just as good as what were contained in the individual episodes... obviously deleted due to time constraints rather than issues of quality. also the strong episodes bear up very well to repeated viewings.

as for series 4, i'm not entirely sure what to make of it yet. some golden moments, and it started off fantasticly, and none of it has been particularly bad, but i am a bit concerned by how much time is being spent away from the office environment in much of these recent episodes. there hasnt nearly been enough creed, kevin or stanley.

i'm really interested in where some of the stories are going though, in particular (spoiler text for those may not be up to date with the new ones)...
toby. michael hates him, and it looks like it has something to do with the fact that he is divorced. he flipped (his lunch) when toby mentioned that his child got caught up in the legal processes of his own divorce, and we know that michael's parents got divorced... remember him as a child wetting himself when his mother got remarried? another thing: in the episode were the photo of michael and jan gets forwarded in an email, toby says "i got eight people sending it to me, including my ex-wife" which would mean that his ex-wife was involved in dunder-miflin. it's all got to be leading up to something... also, did anyone else think toby has shown a creepy side in his infatuation with pam? not officially acknowledging her relationship with jim and just saying "lets wait and see...". on the topic of jim and pams relationship, i dont know how long it can continue happilly. one other thing i found interesting was in the episode where jim was in charge of the office and he made a balls of it, i caught the implication that jim - if he became a manager - might turn into another michael scott (who himself we know to have been a good salesman but just not cut out to be a manager) and that he knows it... will be interesting to see where this all goes.

There were so many genius bits in thursday's episode..Angela's line about putting one of Dwight's beets in her mouth..Michael's enthusiasm about his plasma tv..

I've been meaning to look into this.

anywhere these can be gotten on the interweb reasonably cheaply?

where'd you get yours?

amazon, from the states. compared to the price of the dvd box set of series 2 in shops here (and 3 isnt even out here yet), getting the US versions from amazon is an absolute steal (the series 2 and 3 boxsets contain four discs each, and each costs $22.99 from amazon : that's 14.50 in euro! HMV in grafton street sells series 1 - which is only six episodes on one disc - for 30 euro). they also arrived with a week... a region free dvd player is required, but well well worth it.

what Brian said.

region 1 is the only way to go for The Office.
Season 1 cost me $7, seasons 2 and 3 were $25 each.

seasons are out quicker and way cheaper. Dollar rate helps.

Last weeks episode was great but a lot darker than previous episodes.

it was great, but it was far more painful than funny. it outdid the english version in terms of the sheer "car crash" cringe quality. very realistic depiction of what its like be a bystander watching a couple have a fight, where all logic goes out the window in place of petty vindictiveness.

I want more Creed. The episode when he dyed his hair black to look younger was hilarious.
he's by far one of the funniest characters in the show, anything involving him is gold...

some choice moments:

thanks Brian. I haven't a region-free DVD player though. Will look into it.

The 'Chair Model' episode was great. Really funny ending to it too (the Jim and Pam ending).

It was so funny when Michael referred to Oscar as 'Oscar Meyer Wiener Lover' and referred to Oscar's homosexuality as his 'condition'.

Anyone know how many episodes left in S4?

there's 4 episodes left in season 4. Next weeks episode has Michael and Dwight going out clubbing with Ryan..I imagine it will be awesome..

I really liked Thursday's episode. I loved the Jim and Pam storyline. I also loved Michael and Dwight singing at the end. I think I preferred Dinner Party though.

Apparently they are keeping the series finale under wraps. Confidentiality agreements and whatnot..It better be amazing.

Finale is airing tomorrow night!!I'm way more excited than I should be. If something bad happens to Jim and Pam I will actually cry.

I have an awful feeling the spin off is going to be Jim/Pam based. I think calling the episode 'Goodbye Toby' is way too obvious. There's also gonna be a pregnancy..I predict Jan..snip snap snip snap..

what station?

Been rewatching seasons 2 and 3 on DVD over the past week and it is just an amazingly good show.

I know you're not supposed to say this, but I prefer it to the original.

The guy who plays Toby has written a fair few episodes and Steve Carell wrote the Casino Night finale for Season 2 which is just fantastic.

One of the best sitcoms.... ever!

Andy Bernard is an amazing character. I cried laughing when he sang his Oompa Loompa song about Dwight being fired.

"Ooompa-Loompa Doopity Dawesome
Dwight is now gone, which is totally awesome!
Why is he gone? He was such a nice guy!
No he was not, he was a total douche!"
