Susan Boyle - Britain's Got Talent (1 Viewer)

If I was involved in that show I'd probably resign and publicly commit suicide for being part of something so abhorrent.

At the very least!

I didn't find the clip all that moving. You know, woman sings well - great. Maybe you need some context, I have none really, these shows genuinely pass me by. My mam has less expressive eyebrows than Susan, but she's a nice singer too. People were cheering and clapping all the way through her performance rather than listening to her - it was ridiculous. Simon Cowell's teeth stole the show.
Susan is outwardly "alternative" with her shoddy personal upkeep, but I'm looking for a real artsy girl to come on one of these shows, someone who enjoys anime or comics, maybe listens to Dead Can Dance every once in a while. You know, a girl who likes to express herself through her clothes rather than confirming to some archetpyal "alternative" bullshit that doesn't actually mean anything.

Are you drunk? Aren't these just your specifications for a life partner?

Seriously...are you drunk?

On a related note I went to the barber yesterday and for the first time ever he took a comb and scissors to my eyebrows and tidied them up!

I felt like one of those old hairy faced guys...

wait a minute I am one of those guys!

But more special, which no one is capable of understanding

I notice theres quite a bit of critical analysis going on in this thread.
Can it not just be a nice story?

I really need to sort out my social life, watching that program on a Saturday night with the parents at my age is fucking blasphemous.

ive watched the entire series of Dancing with the Stars - a celebrity dance thing on new zealand tv where some nobody nz celebrities have a dance off and the population votes. the final is on tomorrow night and my favorite celebrity (barbara kendall, an gold medal olympic windsurfer) is through. i voted for her twice last week.

i agree with the clapping thing. how did they even have time to realise she wasnt totally shit and start clapping and screaming before she had finished the first line? something fishy there. she has a lovely voice though, with character and grace and she can do it quite effortlessly. she'll probably get snapped up by some producers and release an album of lifeless show tunes

the barber offered to trim mine a couple of months ago but i told him i'd look after them myself. i do let them trim my ear hair

The 'laugh at the freaks' part of the show is so ingrained in the way people watch that when someone who looks like that comes out everyone is expecting something hysterical. Then she gives a beautiful performance that's so odd that the hysteria goes the other way. It would have been less interesting if she'd just been a perfect singer. I suppose it's an emotional moment to be violently turned around in the middle of extreme prejudice. All very manipulative.
