Fuck sake. Rumours of De Jong coming in on loan. Would probably be a good fit for the rest of the season... We need a bit of competency at the base of midfield now, surely.

really? suppose he'd fit the mould alright. yup, gotta get someone in. a competent someone would be dandy. stevie g aint plugging that hole anyway, hopefully

De Jong? The Young? Hmm. I'd have him. City really missed him when he went. Deffo need a specialist in that position. Steven G can't do it, it's painfully obvious.

You mean he was playing games for a while there? I thought he was just permanently injured?
hes turning into one of those players alright. anyone wanna see how many games hes started since he got injured in the league cup against chelsea back in winter 2012? not too many i'd say. looked our best all season with him doing his thing throughout the december run of games though.

de jong would be alright. does essein do a similar thing? passed it at this stage?

essien's never really recovered from that knee injury. The Young doesn't get injured, he does the injuring. If it's a loan, grand, but we should be looking to buy in that position anyway. Lucas is injured and all, but I get the impression Brendan doesn't rate him that highly. In a perfect world, for Bren, Gerrard would be injured too.

What's this about Chelsea wanting Salah now?

3 days to go and after Chelsea nabbed Salah it's not looking great for us strengthening. The lack of Champions League football as an incentive is still proving to be a huge issue in attracting players of a certain quality, and with the injury list growing i'm concerned about our chances of keeping ahead of the pack vying for next year. If Rodgers can pull off getting in a midfield enforcer to cover Lucas and an attacking midfielder with some goals pedigree I'll be relieved. And somewhat surprised...

I don't understand it. Champions league football? then why did Mata join United? And why did Salah join Chelsea? He's cup tied, and he'll never get a game anyway. I'd say it's more to do with money than Cl footy.

good improvement by Gerrard tonight. one of his best of the season
Sterling was excellent. if theres an upside to be found from not getting salah its that he'll continue to get a decent run in the team. once hes not completely knackered by April.
clear everton were missing coleman massively tonight

if they can take 3 points at west brom it'll set up a huge game with gooners Saturday week

I was a bit disappointed we didn't get 6 or 7. It might come down to goal difference, at the end of the day. OH WELL.

I still think we need to sign an aggressive midfielder. Gerrard was protected by how deep we played after the first goal. Plus he always finds that bit extra for the derby, being a scouser. You wonder how mad the derby would get if Everton could hang on to their good scousers, the Rooneys and Rodwells and Barkleys of this world.
