Maybe I'm not seeing the same site as the rest of you because I live in France but the Libertas website (http://www.libertas2009.fr/category/a-propos) gives the main French candidate as Philippe de Villiers, head of the MPF (movement for France) an ultra nationalist, ultra conservative, extreme right winger who is just a little to the right of the Front National over here. He is also a fucking lunatic. Voting for this lot is voting for Stormfront's poster boys.
On the other hand, de Villiers a wealthy toff from a département with little money and little power. He's still a very marginal figure and MPF garners little public attention. When I was over there, it was the new book on Kouchner that was filling the headlines, so maybe things have changed.

Who knows how things can change. In terms of shifting social forces within Europe, all this is really fascinating.

De Villiers always gets attention around election time as the press are sure to get some meaty quotes from him if they let him speak long enough, but you're right about him being Marginal. As for the Kouchner book the "scandal" around that has died off in the press. The present government is so unabashedly corrupt, a diiferent "scandal" is brought up weekly, and there's little constance in French media so they're "forgotten" as quickly.
It seems clear that the make up of Libertas from the French candidates' perspective is a rabidly anti-european union. It seems pretty clear their objective would be to stop and reverse any further developement of the EU.

pretty much.

he was born in the UK to irish parents and moved to Galway at 13.

though also according to another article from the Irish Times, his nationality was listed as "British" until 2006 when he changed it to Irish in company records of Ganley International

Among the speakers at the convention yesterday morning was Spain's lead candidate Miguel Duran, who is pro-European. He is blind, and for years successfully headed up a powerful organisation representing the blind and disabled.

And Senor Duran won one of the biggest cheers of day during his address, when he announced: "I want to find with Declan a new Europe, a white Europe, not a black Europe."

This went down a storm with a large section of the crowd.

But alas for the enthusiasts, his remark wasn't as black and white at it seemed.

"Blind persons know very well what is the difference between black and white because we always live inside the darkness. So I don't want the next Europe to be dark Europe," he explained, to more muted applause.

The website of Ganley's accountant/company auditor, Micheal Cuddy & Co (Athlone).

I'm sure this isn't the case, but I have to say, looks fake as fuck:
http://www.mpcuddyaccountants.com/

really surprised they do not have the logo of the accountancy body they are part of on their website. this is standard on accountancy body websites

for such an international array of companies, you'd think ganley would enlist a bigger auditor?

i wonder what percentage of their total fee income do ganley and his companies represent?
