Pod & Bulmers are delighted to announce six incredible new acts playing Forbidden Fruit Festival this June bank holiday weekend.

Starting with revered electronic artist NICOLAS JAAR, who joins the bill for Friday 29th May, performing a 2-hour live and DJ set.
Last week Jaar unveiled an amazing new 20-track score for the 1969 Armenian film, The Color of Pomegranates, and has just broken the internet with a massive 12-minute remix of Florence and the Machine’s latest single, “What Kind of Man”.

Adding even more wow-factor to the Friday line-up will be swoon-worthy actor IDRIS ELBA, reprising his role on the decks with his house-party project.

Hamburg DJ, producer, and Nile Rodgers-collaborator TENSNAKE, whose artist debut album “Glow” came out last year, will join the already star-studded bill for Saturday 30th May.

And Sunday 31st May’s line-up sees the unmissable additions of British prodigy MAYA JANE COLES, who created massive waves with her 2013 debut album “Comfort”, and has been on a meteoric rise ever since; leading Swedish techno master ADAM BEYER, founder of three cutting edge electronic labels; and true-to-his-name red hot producer and must-see electronic act for this year, HOT SINCE 82, fresh from headlining many of the world's leading electronic music festivals, including Creamfields and WMC.

Stay tuned for more announcements on our indie and comedy line-ups, as well as many more top-quality acts of a similar flavour to above.

The City Centre Multi-Stage Music & Arts Festival

June Bank Holiday Weekend / Friday 29th - Sunday 31st May

The Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, Dublin 8

We are edging ever closer to the three day party that is Forbidden Fruit 2015 and we’ve still got some tricks up our sleeves!

We’re thrilled to reveal the details of one of our brand spanking new additions, The Live Live (Workshop Stage). Live Live is a brand new collective formed to showcase the very best in up and coming live performances. Officially launching Thursday, 21 May in The Button Factory with RY X & Frank Wiedemann's new band the HOWLING, they follow up a week later at Forbidden Fruit 2015 with a stage featuring the likes of the soulful sounds of Swedish vocalist FATIMA & THE EGLO BAND, techno-folk-electronica duo WHILK & MISKY, one of the hottest MCs in Europe, MC MELODEE, Dublin electronic vocalist BLOOMS, dream-pop trio SLEEP THIEVES, the hotly tipped RUSANGANO FAMILY (made up of God Knows, MuRli, mynameisjOhn), 4-piece folk rockersHEROES IN HIDING and finally, expect electric funk and urban soul from breakthrough artist ROCSTRONG.

Plus we welcome two more great additions to our line-up. We’re delighted to announce the brilliant FLOATING POINTS on Saturday, 30th May. Producer/DJ/Musician Sam Shepherd aka FLOATING POINTS has been on the scene since his debut release in 2009. Sam has been a firm fixture of radio show playlists worldwide and can be heard gracing the sound systems of the globe’s more respectable nightclubs and warehouses. Theo Parrish recently ended his infamous monthly East London session with a freshly pressed piece of Mr Points black plastic. He is quickly gaining a (well deserved) reputation as one of the world’s most exciting DJ talents, travelling the globe with his handmade E&S rotary mixer.

If strings are your thing then you won’t want to miss TRINITY ORCHESTRA PRESENT GORILLAZ. Trinity Orchestra is Ireland’s only fully student run orchestra. These guys have been swiftly gaining recognition for their covers of various artists like Daft Punk, Arcade Fire, Pink Floyd and Sigur Ros. This year they’ll be performing tracks by Damon Albarn’s Gorillaz on Sunday, 31st May.

Our line-up is full to bursting with some amazing acts, including FATBOY SLIM, revolutionary rap group WU TANG CLAN, seminal Berlin house legends BOOKA SHADE, Manchester’s inimitable MR SCRUFF, EARL SWEATSHIRT, JOEY BADA$$ and hip-hop duo RUN THE JEWELS. We’ve got hotly tipped DJ and producer, BAKERMAT, Belfast techno master EJECA, Swiss remix wunderkind CYRIL HAHN, London electronic duo DUSKY and home-grown superstar DJMATADOR. GROOVE ARMADA DJ SET, RICHIE HAWTIN, NICOLAS JAAR and JAMIE XX will also be hitting the gorgeous grounds of the Irish Museum of Modern Art to play as a part of our festival, which has become firmly fixed in the gig-goers calendar as the official start of the summer and the eagerly anticipated kick off of the festival season.
With over 70 acts across five stages (Original Stage, Undergrowth, Lighthouse, Someplace Else, and The Live Live Workshop), there’s a huge selection of different styles of music to suit all tastes. Cutting-edge sounds, comedy, art, good food and festival fun are the order of the day(s). Plus we’ll have more on our Hot Press Chatroom, Bulmers Lounge and our brand new Odessa Cocktail Bar soon! The Comedy Tent
The City Centre Multi-Stage Music & Arts Festival
June Bank Holiday Weekend / Friday 29th - Sunday 31st May
The Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, Dublin 8

David McSavage / Jarlath Regan / Kevin McGahern / Aindrias De Staic / Chris Kent / Patrick McDonnell / John Colleary / Fred Cooke / Eric Lalor / Totally Wired / Forbidden Fruit Newcomers / MC Andrew Stanley

The Comedy Tent at Forbidden Fruit has been a mainstay of the weekend and this year’s line-up has something to suit everybody's taste. Without further ado, let us tell you what we’ve got in store for you! This IS a laughing matter.

First up, actor, comedian and writer David McSavage polarises opinion like no other act out there, but it is hard to deny his impact on the Irish comedy landscape. His precision-aimed jibes combined with the view that he hates himself as much as any of his targets makes for a compelling live experience. Laconic Jarlath Regan's 'An Irishman Abroad' podcast now boasts over 1 million listeners per week and was the winner of iTunes’ Best New Podcast in 2013. However, it is as a stand-up that this London based, Kildare native's star truly shines.

Republic of Telly (RTE2) presenter Kevin McGahern is fast becoming one of the most popular acts on the circuit, having cut his comedy teeth playing the part of Sim Card in the cult ensemble 'The Hardy Bucks'. TG4 star Aindrias De Staic is a wild eyed shock of Celtic unpredictability! This guy has talent and humour in abundance and promises to be one of the highlights of the weekend!

The effortlessly original Chris Kent breathes new life into anecdotal comedy and his soft Cork brogue is truly infectious. Fans of the hit TV show ‘Father Ted’ will be delighted to see Patrick McDonnell, who memorably played the gormless country and western singer, Eoin McLove.
We’ll also be welcoming another TV star and co-writer of the 3 times IFTA nominated ‘The Savage Eye', John Colleary. John will be bringing his sharply observed one liners and spot on impressions to the leafy surrounds of Kilmainham. Fred Cooke has just had another sold out show at Vicar St and is currently in scintillating form as he travels around the country supporting Tommy Tiernan. Plus, we’ve got another audience favourite in the shape of Eric Lalor, who has twice been voted 'Stand-Up Of The Year' by the readers of entertainment.ie.

Musical comedy comes from the truly awesome duo Totally Wired and, as is the wont of the Forbidden Fruit Comedy Tent, the best of the newcomers on the circuit will be given their chance to shine. Big things are predicted for Steve Bennett, Allison Spittle, Danny O Brien, Martin Angolo and David Reilly, all of whom will be performing on the biggest stage of their fledgling careers.
Completing the line-up will be the winner of the Forbidden Fruit Comedy Talent Search which takes place every Tuesday night at The Button Factory and Crowbar from now until the festival kicks off!

Your MC for the weekend is the man rightly regarded as the best compere in the country, the human dynamo, Andrew Stanley.
With over 70 music acts across five stages (Original Stage, Undergrowth, Lighthouse, Someplace Else and Live Live [Workshop]) and our Comedy Tent line up bringing the laughs, there’s plenty to see, hear and do at this year’s Forbidden Fruit Festival!

We’ll have more on our Hot Press Chatroom, Bulmers Lounge and our brand new Odessa Cocktail Bar soon! Stay tuned to our Twitter @forbiddenffest or keep an eye on our Facebook @ forbiddenfruitfestival for more details!

The Comedy Tent will be open from 4 - 8pm on Sat 30th and Sun 31st of May.

5 new acts announced
TEI SHI | EAST INDIA YOUTH | KOWTON | BATHS | LORENZO SENNI
The three-day party that is Bulmers Forbidden Fruit 2015 is looming ever closer, and we’ve still got more to announce from our bag of tricks!
First up, we’re delighted to bring you the amazing and talented Argentinian TEI SHI. This Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter and producer mixes shoegaze, indie, and R&B, creating shivery sonics you won’t want to miss at the festival Friday 29th May.
Next up, check out William Doyle aka EAST INDIA YOUTH, when he takes to the Live Live Stage on Sunday 31st May. A major breakthrough artist last year, Doyle was described by The Guardian as “a rare, idiosyncratic talent”, and by Uncut as “a major new British talent”. He garnered massive acclaim for his 2014 debut album, culminating in a Mercury Prize nomination last October. Just last month he released the extraordinary follow-up, “Culture of Volume”.
We’re also thrilled to announce Bristolian wax-enthusiast, KOWTON, joining us on Friday 29th May. Expect shadowy tech and swaggering vibes from this hotly tipped beatsmith.
Mercurial LA music maker BATHS will perform on Saturday 30th May. Prepare to be bathed in a hail of lush melodies, ghostly choirs, playful instrumentation and stuttering beats.
Finally, we’ve got Milanese LORENZO SENNI coming at us on Friday 29th May. A tireless investigator of dance music’s mechanisms, head of respected experimental labelPresto!?, and producer of one the most unique albums, “Quantam Jelly”.

This festival is some load of shite.

Lived in Kilmainham last year when it was on. Only band I watched for free were... some dreary all-female grunge nonsense. Anyway, shocking what you can pull over the public, wool.

Met lads I half knew spilling out, drugs bursting at the seams going on about how Flying Lotus let them down personally. As if they knew the fucker.

Off they're teeth. Chawing at the bit. "Look man, sell you the end of this ticket for a tenner, bud?"

This really sucks

Apparently the Patti Smith concert is day 4 of forbidden fruit? and now they're letting in all the pill-kids in for free. Which suggests they sold fuck all tickets to Patti Smith.

Fuck that shit though. I don't want to share a field with a load of kids pilled off their heads. Once a year at electric picnic is enough for that .

sake
