A senior adviser to the US presidential hopeful John McCain has apologised after saying a terrorist attack on American soil would be a "big advantage" to the Republican candidate's election campaign.

...the assassination of the former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto in December was an "unfortunate event" but had helped McCain to win the New Hampshire primary

Its not the fact that they think it, or even that they say it, but that they fucking say it to journalists... they just come right out to journos and absolutely make sure everyone knows they are the most callous manipulative scumbags you can imagine.

What do those people talk about behind closed doors?

edit... badges being sold at the Republican state convention.

Tracy Russo, part of Edwards's web team, said that McCain's grasp of social networking tools was "like trying to teach your grandmother about Twitter and then applying it to government". Soohoo countered that it was a mistake to assume McCain had no knowledge of new media. "You don't have to use a computer to know how it shapes the country," he said. "John McCain is aware of the internet. This is a man who has a long history of understanding a range of issues.

That's a wonderful quote.

Jaysus. I saw him a little while ago on the street. He's not really as fat a bastard as I thought he was.

Himself and Bill Clinton can really step in now and close out Obama's campaign for him.

Former President Bill Clinton said through a spokesman today that he is committed to helping Barack Obama become president
Rapid.

some shit on the guardian said:
"Unlike the elitist view that believes Americans cling to guns out of bitterness, today's ruling recognises that gun ownership is a fundamental right - sacred, just as the right to free speech and assembly," McCain said.

how the fuck is gun ownership sacred? how is it even on the same planet of importance as freedom of speech? this guy needs to be taken down for fuck sake.

Sacred insofar as it's in the US constitution? If one were to take the stance that it guarantees certain fundamental freedoms then you could make the case that no one right is more or less sacred than the other.

You'd be wrong of course.

Guns, God, and beating up Gays.

It is consistent. You know where you stand with the Republicans.

(Specifically that's right next to the lad who plays the banjo in Deliverance.)
