I think alcoholism is a disease. I think you may even be born with a greater or lesser capacity to become an alcoholic. Off course whether that develops is partly due the society you’re born into yeah, that’s stating the obvious really.
I think all people in all walks of life have the capacity for violence to a lesser or greater extent.
How these things develop manifest interact...well its a rich tapestry...social, hereditary, cultural..loads of factors.
This is complex stuff. I suppose we’re way off the point of the riots at this stage.

Some people are not nice..some people are violent..to deny this seems to be crazy.

More working class people than middle class die of heart disease, cancer and stress related illness. Poverty is stressful.
How much do people think society, education, family life impact on how we behave? Coz I think it has a pretty massive impact.

Lala it's easy to say class schmass but in fact there is inequality in Ireland still and in every country. No matter what you call it there are always some people who have a leg up and some who are born with disadvantages.

Anyone see the article in the Irish Times yesterday about Gardaí using images from O'Connell st in order to identify and prosecute?

Gardaí investigating the riots are also planning to contact media outlets and request photographs and television images. Cameramen and photographers will be asked to give sworn statements that images which clearly identify rioters were taken in the city centre on Saturday and not at another time or location.

Senior Garda sources said the images will be gathered and sent to Garda Intelligence collators in divisional headquarters across Dublin city. These members will try to identify the rioters by cross-checking them with banks of images on file and on the Garda's Pulse computer system

I wonder if they're gonna try and find out the identities of the flickr/photobucket users who posted all their cameraphone pictures, or who emailed them to newspapers. That's not gonna be economical.

Sorry, I meant that they want to identify them in order to get sworn affidavits from them stating that the pictures they took were taken on O'Connell st at a certain time, so that the individuals identified in the pictures can be prosecuted.
