Are there any estimates over how many abortions will be performed here under the new legislation? The rules remain very restrictive.

between 0 and 20 million - source http://secular.ie/2013/06/13/irish-premier-says-anti-abortion-activists-branding-him-a-murderer-sending-letters-in-blood/

“I am now being branded … around the country as a murderer, that I’m going to have on my soul the death of 20 million babies,” Kenny said Wednesday as he described a mass campaign to flood his post box and telephone switchboard with anti-abortion messages.

that is quite something as that is 5 times the population of here.

Not sure if it was posted but here's the stuff posted on youthdefence's site yesterday

Not entirely convinced by the reasons for voting no by some of the left leaning TD's. Bill is far from perfect but it's a start.

Reasons TD's do things and the reason they tell you they do things are not the same thing.

There are constituencies countrywide that are split on this, because the extreme left don't vote and the extreme right do.

All these guys have a tough election ahead.

The TFMR amendment should never have been shot down.

The criminalisation element is shocking.

It is but that's just a sop to the pro-life brigade in FG surely. Again I find myself asking the question about something that is included in the bill, how often is that scenario likely to arise? The nation is still just faffing about on the fringes of the issue.

True but there's also the likes of Boyd Barret who's in Dun Laoighaire, one would expect him to be taking votes off of Gilmore next time around for reasons not related to this.

The TFMR amendment should never have been shot down.

Agreed
