Yes the curfew is on the way, but it'll
have far more damning effects than
shutting down nightclubs.

if you read the news you will see that this only applies to theatre licenses.
but if you wish to continue to wear your tinfoil hat I guess it is desirable for you to believe this has more "damning effects".

It amazes me that people are willing
to go out of their way to keep drinking
into the night and yet they ignore the
real deterioration of civil rights.
Go look up S.I.S, the implications of
the E.U. Constitution, COINTELPRO, etc. etc..
The Police State is on its way.

oh christ.police state - yeah right. pray tell why Ireland is tenth on the list of the most desirable place to live according to the UN human development report? if we really were living in a police state we would be way down the bottom. stop pretending you are Wei Jingsheng or something, it is insulting to the millions of people that do actually live in a police state.

If this does come about, maybe more people will come around to the great idea that is squatting. Its about time
we start disobeying the law in an interesting manner-
they tell us we cant get a drink after half one, we dont
even go to the pubs, we build our own infinitely better
ones.

it is a little disappointing though, this early closing business. i agree with you completely about the police state thing spiritual tramp, but it is turning into a nanny state like someone said earlier. theres a line between looking out for the welfare of the nation (in my opinion, the smoking ban) and dealing with problems with a fuckin scythe - kinda the easy way out methinks. while it is sensible in relation to some places, others are going to suffer unfairly and unnecessarily. if people spilling into the streets at the same time is a major issue, why not stagger the closing times of clubs/pubs in order of noteriety?
