That's an outrageous rumour, gotta love the transfer deadline. I also saw one about Huntelaar agreeing terms to come to Liverpool contingent on Carroll leaving. Madness. Heard on Off The Ball last night some 18 year old set up a twitter account pretending to be an agent and gathered 40,000 followers before revealing the hoax.

in other news, i think you can get a new home liverpool shirt for £6.

Looks like West Ham are going to pay all of Carroll's wages. This is good in terms of cash flow but doesn't provide any lump sum to go out and buy someone else. A load deal for Sturridge would be a really smart move. There's talk of Dempsey going to Pool now as well so there must be money coming in for Adam (he's at Stoke for a medical) and someone else.

interesting how many loan deals are taking place this summer. seems to be a result of the contracting market. less cash sloshing around for the billionaires and FFP taking effect.

Just now, it seems sturridge will happen. I think the picture emerging is that Chelsea would only sell for £15m, we don't have the cash for that, so we were holding out for a sale/loan plus sale of carroll. Then Chelsea hinted they'd take a loan deal for Sturridge, that led to LFC softening on the Carroll loan terms... BR said last night he's got as close as it's possible to get to an assurance of a replacement - which implies it's not contingent on anything else happening (ie, Adam to Stoke). If so, Carroll again is being shunted around in a three-way deal involving LFC and Chelsea strikers.

Re dempsey... I actually think Sturridge on loan might be better than Dempsey on a contract. I like Sturridge, he's fast and skilful and unlike Chelsea, we aren't playing a system that requires the striker to act as a fulcrum. he'd enjoy the freedom.

Charlie Adam is an puzzle. He was unreal for Blackpool, couldn't put a foot wrong, brilliant passer and dead ball specialist. Gets the Liverpool gig then suddenly appears to lose all of his ability. Will be interesting to see how he gets on at Stoke.
