I cycled in this morning and had to turn back and root around for a balaclava which i didn't find. Pain in the arse. Cold and late for work.
Its the moisture in the air i'd say. Dry cold is much easier to take.
It's true indeed. That said, I went for a run this morning, and the only change I made from my usual cold-weather garb was the addition of a hat, and I was pretty much fine. I've got a brilliant jacket and some excellent thermal tops, and I was out there in shorts, absolutely fine. I hate tights and I only resort to them when there's a genuine risk of frostbite if I don't (i.e., minus 5 or minus 10). I only have one pair and I've had 'em for about 15 years, but I hardly ever wear them, so they're in fine nick.
And I think I'm also feeling it more because this is an old building and there's a storage heater in front of a window that isn't double-glazed. It's about the same temperature in here as it would be if you were sitting outside under an outdoor heater. You can feel some heat, but there just isn't enough of it to warm the place up properly.
