Sorry for dipping in here again but I didn't know where else to put this.
My client today, he had seen my name in an email (spelled without the fada), but never met me, and introduced himself. And then said "So um, seen, see-ann, s'yan..."
Seàn, as in Sean connory or Sean penn or Sean bean. It's not that unusual a spelling even if it is technically wrong.
This does happen from time to time like, but in this situation the guy was an English fella called John with an Irish surname. And he couldn't pronounce Seàn.
