Ireland (11 Viewers)

That's 15 minutes long, give us the gist cause I can't be arsed with that
The Coillte Effect is a deep dive into the hidden truth behind Ireland’s forestry policy — and the semi-state body tasked with managing it.This episode exposes how Coillte, a for-profit logging company, has shaped Ireland’s forests into silent monocultures, prioritising short-term profits over long-term ecological health. We explore how native woodlands were replaced with fast-growing Sitka spruce plantations, how public land was quietly sold to an English investment fund, and why Ireland now has the lowest native forest cover in Europe. This is not just a story about trees — it’s a story about land, ownership, accountability, and the quiet erosion of our national resources.Ireland was once a rainforest. It can be again. But only if we take back control.

and clear most of the non-coastal parts of the country of significant human habitation
between the rewetted bogs and the reforested medows and hill, where will the plain people of rural ireland go? ;-)

Am I being soft here by thinking that the judge was overreacting here?

Nah, Harsh lesson, but a kick in the arse that was needed it seems.

I've been late loads of times, not so much recently. Sometimes stress, exhaustion, plain fucking apathy, yes sometimes drunkeness, stupidity, getting horribly surprised by last nights kebab, having a screaming session with the ex at three in the morning, other personal things. And I can only imagine if there was kids or a car involved.

But a thing like that is definitely one where you make sure you're on time. It's surely stressful, but it matters a lot.

I've worked with loads of people over the years that just didn't get the idea of showing up on time. That's how they ended up in my world. Showing up on time is actually the primary thing, very little more is expected of you.

"Forget Greenland, Ireland is the North Atlantic island the U.S. already owns. And when it comes to tech, Dublin is Trump’s Trojan horse."
Hang the traitorous Eoin Drea!

He's probably correct in what he says, I don't know, but he has a thing for bashing Ireland, and him a Cork man

pretty much on the nail as far as I know, although the extent to which we've tailored the implementation/enforcement data protection legislation based on the interested of big tech.

Its no secret that Irelands approach to FDI from the 60/70s onwards was based on tax breaks, and as regualtion changed, we developed new loopholes..... and that we've currently very dependent on the sector..

I think some of the tech sector needs to go. It's a fucking drain on our infrastructure And resources.
Yes some jobs bla bla bla. But the government could be smart about it and start pivoting away from yank wank reliance but they're so far up FDI's hole that they'll never do it
