I caught a few rays

Twenty years of visiting Sligo regularly and I finally went to the beach. Rosses Point yesterday and Streedagh today for swimming. Also did Strandhill last night for sunset and Lissadell for a nice quiet sit. All incredible.

both myself and my wife were woken by a huge crash of thunder last night around 2am; checked boards and there are people as far away as lucan reporting the same (we're near DCU).
my family in D15 were saying they'd never heard anything like it, my dad thought it was an explosion.

I was in a guesthouse a couple of years ago looking out the window during a thunder storm. It was fairly high up in the mountains. There was a really loud intense crack of lightening, I couldn't see it directly but I knew it was really close by the brightness and they was a loud bang on the roof at the same time. I went to check if the place was on fire or not (wasn't) and another guest was all stressed as he saw it hit about 50 meters in front of the house and make a big light show and there was a poor horse tied up and having a meltdown in between. The owner of the house seemed to think the mobile phone tower in the garden was hit because the fuse box in the house exploded and another guest got zapped. Didn't like it

There sure are a lot of metal songs called "Lightning Strikes"
