Your work situation (9 Viewers)

Is this bell curve shit common? How many people are reporting to you? If it's less then 100 then applying a bell curve to the ratings is ... well, I recommend you get a statistician in to explain to your org how stupid this is
I have only 8! The entire department is less than 30. We're blue in the face telling the management that it's not fit for purpose

Another crack of dawn meeting with the Japanese. I should ask them if they've met @Cormcolash who is over there at the moment
Actually interesting note, I'm pretty sure the Japanese are far more strict about working hours than we are, basically I think a lot of full-time jobs here are scheduled 9-5 and there is no fucking with that system. Almost all of the parks, museums etc stuff that you'd want to see closes at 5pm sharp, I'm pretty sure it's that way with the majority of office type stuff here too.

So in other words, if they want a meeting with you, they probably need to start it 4pm latest, which of course is 7am in Ireland right now.

I've been at my desk since 6 as I had to attend a pre-meeting meeting

Think I'll try that Lotto I've been hearing about later

All my meetings with Japanese clients were convenient for our time zone and shit for them. I don’t think some of the people we talked to ever clocked off.

I had a rough old week there, but it got done.

Then other work, ostensibly my main job, text me this morning saying do this TONIGHT. I ignored it.
Then the big boss phones me. "Can you do it? You'll get paid fuck all plus Nightshift extras". Half day btw, so half fuckall plus a fraction of fuck all.

I've known big boss since the before times, we're both exiles of the old company that is known in the Da Biz as "the company run by that cunt". This company was supposed to be different, it's the company's literal USP.

All these years, and there's just....... nothing.

I really shouldn't turn down work, but I was offended. He was offended. I sent a polite text afterwards. But fuck this. There's some terse phone calls and power re-balancing to be done come Monday.

Sometimes you just have to put the foot done. Fair play

I should also point out that I would have done it, with a little bit more notice, but with the week I had, I had a bit of a blow out on Friday into Saturday. No point showing up being rubbish.
With more notice, I obviously wouldn't have gone on a mad one Friday night.

Also worth noting, although this is my "main job", I've gotten less than a thousand quid out of them this year, despite being available to work (as far as they know) 90% of the time. It's a funny old industry.

Edit, lol, this just came up on the radio:

My current job of I think 12 or 13 years,I have never once not wanted to go to because of work. Non work related reasons yes,but never work.

It's not a job for everyone though, and the pay is not that great.

Is it actually possible to have a job where you don't, occasionally, think "ah I just couldn't be arsed with this shit anymore"?

Once many years ago, in fact possibly at the old company, office guy said"yeah, it's fine. Guys just get a bit fed up once in a while. It's not really anything to do with the work or too many hours or not enough hours. Usually they come back around".

He meant this in a positive way. As in, it's no one's fault, it's not a black mark on anyone. It's just life.

Currently working through an application for a job which can only be applied for via a not very user friendly form with poorly thought out and contradictory essential criteria.
