Using an Ipod and a different PC (1 Viewer)

Can anyopne tell me if the following is possible.
I have an ipod about 2 years old , a nano. I no longer have the same pc.Can I hook it up to my new computer and download books music etc to it. Am I right in thinking I will lose anything that is on it now?

When you connect the iPod it'll say:
"This iPod is synched to a different version of iTunes"

Then it'll ask if you want to erase & synch to the new iTunes (which you don't obviously).

Press 'Cancel' then check the box that says "Manually manage music & video".
This wil let you manually move files instead of always synching everything between iTunes & your iPods.

You can also check the enable disk use box if you want to use your iPod for storing data files aswell as music & video.
