Upcoming Gigs of Interest (16 Viewers)

According to Goggle

The Forest Fest, a music, comedy, and arts festival, has a capacity of 10,000 people, plus 1,500 staff and artists, with camping facilities for 7,500 people. In 2023, the festival doubled in capacity to 10,000 people from 5,000. The festival, which takes place in the village of Emo, Laois, transforms the small village into a festival hub

from 2024

Doubled the capacity.

Right, kind of takes away the nice quaintness/ intimacy of what made them great when they started.

I understand a larger capacity allows them to book bigger/more performers but the quality/ infrastructure nearly always fails to meet expectations with larger crowds too

2025 festival offerings are laughable. forest fest is about the best but it's not saying much. i wouldn't have been arsed with that lineup when those bands were on their first outings, never mind being wheeled back onto the stage out of retirement in 25 - i think teenage fanclub is about the most interesting thing at that one. jeff mills is about all i can find at beyond the pale. meh

Is it just me or does Forest Fest looks like hell? Pure nostalgia fest, ugh..

Open Ear festival is happening this weekend on Sherkin Island- always a great festival showcasing Irish acts making interesting/brilliant music

I always miss the boat on this one.
both figuratively and metaphorically

Protomartyr are playing the agent intellect in Whelans on November 14 and 15. There is a presale via foggy notions email now.

Tbh, I don't really care about going to any of these things anymore.....but... you have to post something.
And I'm sure there's someone out there who is really looking forward to seeing The Farm at forest fest.
(the band, the farm, not "the farm"....although an actual farm would be more interesting)

It's simple for me. There's a fair amount of bands I wouldn't mind see playing their own gig in a decent venue, and I have absolutely no interest in spending days in a field watching them surrounded by thousands of people drinking and talking shit.

Forest Fest seems to be getting bigger each year.
The bill is like a flashback to 1996 - 2001

The last time I saw Kula Shaker and Manic Street Preachers sharing a stage together was the Trip to Tipp back in 1997
