This latest episode has been my favourite since the first two.


I wonder what’s on the hard drive…


Bets our plucky young True Detectives stumble across an Eyes Wide Shut style orgy next week…

I'd imagine the harddrive contains some higher ups in society doing some kinky fucking and maybe a snuff movie.

So the real questions is who is The Raven working for?
If The Catalyst group and McCandless want the hard drive they might have been blackmailed by Caspere, did someone not say they bought his sex house in Hollywood? So they probably didn't kill him if they were being blackmailed. Unless they hired the raven and he/she has gone AWOL.

Who do you think The Raven is? I reckon it might be the mayor's son!

Yeah I also thought it was the best episode since the first 2.

Would be great if they took more time with it and went back to the one director approach......although there seemed to be a lot of delays with this season going ahead.......I wonder what the hold ups were.....I wonder if they considered cutting one of the characters, or was it just trying to nail down the directors.

In my probably annoying way of finding a frame of reference for this I've gone from thinkin that it's Lynch meets Mann to James Elroy for the most recent episode.

They approached Andrew Dominik as well. That would be very awesome.

Do you think they'll do another season? I hope they do another season. I think Pizzolatto said that he would like to do three seasons. I think they should return to the single director approach, but have a team of writers, and Pizzolatto could act as Showrunner. This season has proved that he badly needs an editor/other people’s input. There’s some really talented writers working in American TV, many of whom must have surely been influenced by season 1, and they could hone the shit out of one of Pizzolatto’s ideas.

Very Ellroy. The whole scene with Ray beating a confession out of Pitlor was straight out of Ellroy.

I think the raven is Frank’s louche henchman. The henchman would have known that Frank had given Ray the address for Caspere’s fuckpad so would know that he would show up at some point. He’d also have known he was a cop etc which is why he didn’t kill him, just warned him.

there's a long meaningful look between jordan and blake (mr. louche) when they're discussing the newspaper story on vinci and he says frank doesn't get touched

then she says "everybody gets touched" and holds his eye for a long moment with a smirk

-this little lot under caspere's bed. fake fannies lol


-whoever raided caspere's house took the computer - it was already pretty obvious it's the catalyst guys anyway i guess

-woodrugh's big ?burn scar is 'not from the army. it's from a long time ago.'

-ani was gambling in the scene where she gets thrown out for being drunk - didn't register that the first time round

-woodrugh can't be the killer/raven because he was having a very long shower/sad viagra sex/awkward conversation with his girlfriend for several hours when caspere was being propped up on the picnic bench--unless caspere was there for a couple of days

this episode makes a lot more sense when you have a general idea what the fuck's going on

female silhouette behind a camera/webcam--ani's sister involved in filming incriminating sex party stuff? (as well as her webcam job obviously, but here she's behind the camera). or at least it suggests some woman involved in manipulating/blackmailing the sex party crowd. or not. but the webcam sideline doesn't seem interesting enough to warrant its own image in the credits.
