i don't think you grasped the point. she thinks he is an extremely gifted guy, and praises him for his success, as well as his work. what she also says however is, 'if you think that's good stuff, read this guy, FAR better', which I think is fair if you actually know about these things.

oh, and she may well have tried it herself with her own groundbreaking theories. how do you know??!!

In my defense, this is quite different to your original post.

she says he merely expounds upon others' theories in a manner that the layperson can grasp

It's the use of the word 'merely' which sounds dismissive and you didn't mention the part about saying how gifted he is and praising his success in the original post.

Someone told me that Stephen Hawking was abused by his wife, anyone know anything about this?
Apparently he was being slapped around by her. She denied it though. Said he wheeled himself into a door.
I'd say she did it though. Do you think he protested in his robot-voice?

"GET. OFF. ME. YOU. MAD. COW."

i called his house the other day. the voice on the other end said 'you've reached stephen hawking'

i said 'hi, i'd like to leave a message, this is La.......'

voice goes 'no, this is stephen hawking you're talking to'

ENDS.

(bad rip off of a robin williams joke. sorry everyone)
