The Liberties
The fact that it's a bunch of villages strung together by roads
It's easily navigable by bike, as in it's pretty flat, and fun too.
Scalp Road at dawn, and all that mountainy business there
It has both the mountains and the sea
Portobello
It's complicated, layered but understated history, a new piece of which you'll discover every time you talk to someone
The recent upsurge in farmers markets and other independant traders
The many different sorts of pretentiousness of some of its residents, for comedy value
Good pubs, though many are rubbish, but the good ones are good
