I'd think she's still in it - it's still going on. It was on this evening, but I didn't see it. It's great drama, eh? At the start the beautiful people are all going 'oh no', and she blows them away. She has some eyebrows also.

Re: Susan Boyle

That bloody show drives me mad, so obviously designed to twang the emotions, totally works on me, I had to choke back the tears embarrassing emotional lability. Some pair of brows on her.

She has an amazing voice. Even with eyes closed it would call forth tears.

Re: Susan Boyle

It's an absolutely perfect hollywood moment when she first starts singing. A one in a million voice launching into a perfectly chosen song. The whole clip is magic. I'm responsible for about 26m of the views.

Re: Susan Boyle

In Mountjoy jail one Monday morning
High upon the gallows tree,
Kevin Barry gave his young life
For the cause of liberty.

But a lad of eighteen summers,
Still there's no one can deny,
As he walked to death that morning,
He proudly held his head on high.

Just before he faced the hangman,
In his dreary prison cell,
The Black and Tans tortured Barry,
Just because he wouldn't tell.

The names of his brave comrades,
And other things they wished to know.
"Turn informer and we'll free you"
Kevin Barry answered, "no".

"Shoot me like a soldier.
Do not hang me like a dog,
For I fought to free old Ireland
On that still September morn.

"All around the little bakery
Where we fought them hand to hand,
Shoot me like a brave soldier,
For I fought for Ireland."

"Kevin Barry, do not leave us,
On the scaffold you must die!"
Cried his broken-hearted mother
As she bade her son good-bye.

Kevin turned to her in silence
Saying, "Mother, do not weep,
For it's all for dear old Ireland
And it's all for freedom's sake."

Calmly standing to attention
While he bade his last farewell
To his broken hearted mother
Whose grief no one can tell.

For the cause he proudly cherished
This sad parting had to be
Then to death walked softly smiling
That old Ireland might be free.

Another martyr for old Ireland;
Another murder for the crown,
Whose brutal laws to crush the Irish,
Could not keep their spirit down.

Lads like Barry are no cowards.
From the foe they will not fly.
Lads like Barry will free Ireland,
For her sake they'll live and die.

Re: Susan Boyle

About three-quarters of the way through you see Simon Cowell mooning over the performance with dollar signs in his eyes.

Yeah, he had that same look this evening when that 12 year old boy sang a Micheal Jackson song.

I really need to sort out my social life, watching that program on a Saturday night with the parents at my age is fucking blasphemous.

he knew well in advance what she was about to do.

Max Clifford was saying that Simon called him a few weeks before the show telling him to watch the first episode because it had "all the right ingredients".

she also went to theatre school, has sung in some choral society or something and also appeared on another TV talent show.

none of this takes away from her story and in my eyes probably enhances it. She made some comment about not giving up and following your dreams etc etc.

Remember when talent shows were the highlight of the activities list for the local parish hall?

I preferred it that way.

Me too. I don't watch this sort of stuff and I usually hate it. Just this once though.

I think the next person did a version of Television's Venus De Milo.

To be honest, I wouldn't believe a word out of Max Clifford's mouth. Sounds like Simon's trying to get in on the ground floor.
