replacing a headphone socket on a laptop.. (1 Viewer)

ok. I bought one of the USB ones but had nothing but problems - it kept overriding other ports etc.

I bought one of these http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=hub master&source=15&SD=Y#features today but there are no instructions and nothing happens when I plug my headphones into it. The USB prorts on it work fine.

is there something obvious I should change/check to get the headphones working?

the company site is down at the moment.
