I want to progress my career and be recognised for my work. Why you pursue something is as important as what you pursue.

I know people who have missed out on pay raises because other people took credit for their work or managers simply didn't see what work they were doing

I have generally been of the view that doing something you love for a living kind of kills that thing for you and you'll never make money at it because everyone wants to do the fun stuff......
