as mentioned, my wife is recuperating from a bad ankle break and subsequent surgery. while googling what's involved with recovery from this sort of thing, she's stumbled across a seeming fact that in the states many doctors now warn women who have suffered serious injury, or other bad news health wise, that divorce may be imminent.
basically, many men cannot cope with having to deal with their wives being unwell or incapacitated, and having to deal with the demands of that, and probably having to do what their wives did without them really registering it.
in short, they didn't cop what the 'in sickness' bit meant, and are bailing.
