gig of the year.

and U2 had a big JCB integrated into the stage for theirs. lah-de-dah.

My favourites? I heard you ask?

well I don't think it was an especially vintage year gigwise but anyway.

- James Yorkston/Adrian Crowley - Crawdaddy last february (the first gig I was at this year, and it wasn't surpassed I reckon).
- Espers/Woods/Cave Singers - the other week there
- Cap Pas Cap at EP (just something about it - a deadly start to the saturday even though it started an hour late)
- Madness at EP (again more of a perfect for the mood and the timing than anything else)
- Throw Me The Status (saw them in Seattle in september. Deadly)
- Parts and Labour (ages ago too)
- Jay Reatard (deadly).
- Tallest Man on Earth (once the loud fat bloke shut up)

I can't remember most gigs I was at this year for some reason.

Ones that were a particular letdown were Neil Young and Leonard Cohen in the O2 (every gig I've ever been at there has been a letdown).

Ones I missed that probably would have made the list - Sunset Rubdown, Yo La Tengo.

Edit: Oh and Bruce. The saturday show in the rain. Deadly. And the sunday one not in the rain. Also deadly.

In no particular order...

Woods
Primavera (Neil Young in particular)
Deerhunter - Andrews Lane
DJ Scotch Egg
Take That
Giveamanakick
Grouper & Boys of Summer

I'm sure I'll have more in a while

A good year for gigs (which means I went to more than two). My favourites (all in London) were Animal Collective in Koko, Sonic Youth also in Koko and a great Hypnotic Brass Ensemble/Spok Frevo/Dhoad Gypsies/Kasai Allstars all-dayer at the Barbican.
