Forbidden Fruit 2015
The City Centre Multi-Stage Music & Arts Festival
June Bank Holiday Weekend / Friday 29th - Sunday 31st May
The Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, Dublin 8
Early Bird Weekend Tickets at EU99.50 on sale this Thursday 29th January
The beloved festival-on-your-doorstep, Dublin city centre’s multi-stage music and arts festival, FORBIDDEN FRUIT, is set to return for its fifth installment on the June Bank Holiday weekend, 29th - 31st May 2015.
The beautiful grounds of the Irish Museum of Modern Art play host once more to the growing three-day frolic, which has become firmly fixed in the gig-goers calendar as the grand-opening to the festival season, and the official start of the summer.
Now with over 70 acts across five stages (Original Stage, Undergrowth, Lighthouse, Someplace Else, and The Workshop), offering a wide selection of different styles of music, old and new, to suit all tastes, you can expect the usual fruity cocktail of great cutting-edge sound, comedy, art, good food, and festival fun.
Some tempting new additions to this years festival include The Workshop Stage, (new band stage), a new Odessa Vodka cocktail bar, and the Glastonbury favourite, The Inflatable Church Collective, among other things. And we’ll see a return of the ever-popular Bulmers Lounge.
Organisers are very excited to reveal just a mouthwatering taste of the festival line-up, beginning with FATBOY SLIM, the man who almost single handedly took dance music from the clubs, into the living room, and to the top of the charts in the 90s and 2000s. Next up are revolutionary rap group WU TANG CLAN, finally set to re-appear on stage together, with the surviving original members reunited, and armed with new album, "A Better Tomorrow”, – their first full-length in seven years.
Seminal Berlin house legends BOOKA SHADE make a welcome return to the festival, playing their incredible live show, while Manchester’s inimitable MR SCRUFF will bring his trademark visuals and bewildering array of infectious beats to Forbidden Fruit for the first time.
Joining Wu Tang on the rap bill are some of hip-hop’s hottest newcomers- EARL SWEATSHIRT, the 20-year old phenomenon from Los Angeles, and JOEY BADA$$, the online sensation, whose massively anticipated debut album has just come out this week. Also announced are hip-hop duo RUN THE JEWELS, who have recently released what critics have called “the hip-hop record of the decade”.
For the electronic fans out there, our initial announcements include hotly tipped young Dutch DJ and producer, BAKERMAT, and Belfast techno master EJECA. Swiss remix wunderkind CYRIL HAHN also returns to the festival, while London electronic duo DUSKY, and homegrown superstar dj MATADOR will keep the slick beats coming.
Ever-expanding, Forbidden Fruit will be a three-day festival this year, with acts across every genre to be announced over the coming weeks. Stay tuned for our initial indie and comedy announcements, as well as many more top-quality acts of a similar flavour to above.
Early bird weekend tickets go on sale at 9am on Thursday 29th January at €99.50 inc booking fee, through Ticketmaster and usual outlets.
