BREXIT (3 Viewers)

Who buys this shit? I would occasionally ask to either previously mentioned gf's. Not the Dundrum native, and not the well paid blow in.

And, seeing as this is the Brexit thread and not the Ireland thread, I had a very similar feeling in 2012, having to walk through Europe's biggest shopping centre to get to work in the Olympic stadium for many months, with the Cartier store, the Ferrari store etc. Now, whenever I walk through that same SC, the Cartier store sells discount camping gear. The Ferrari store is available to let.* The casino has done well throughout. fucking bullshit. I don't know what the parking situation is there.

*I'm probably wrong about the specifics, but the point stands.

I don't buy this stuff, but I know people that do.
For some people it's a reward for achieving something, for others they're status signifiers.
I understand it to a point.
I have no idea why anyone would pay €20,000 for a Birkin bag, but if I had the money, I would probably splurge on a Rolex SeaDweller.

When we want something, from a biscuit, to a pint, to a car, there's almost no end to the ingenuity of excuses that our brains will conjure to make it happen.
When we don't want something; cleaning the kitchen, visit our gran, post a letter, our brains are our greatest ally in avoidance.

its far from bleedin posh it was when I was growing up. I wasn't too far from there and posh was one thing you would associate with dundrum (apart from that posh estate up by the Mint)
Which estate because up by the mint was one of the roughest estates in the area. There was a lad in there who tried to burgle my mate’s house while they were at a funeral and later found fame by pushing a homeless guy under a bus on Dawson St.

They named the shopping centre 'Dundrum Town Centre' which is the most arrogant entitled fucking thing to do.
Fuck those guys
There’s already a Dundrum Shopping Centre in the village, it used to be full of local businesses and now it’s grim as fuck. The whole village is like a ghost town since the big centre opened. Everything I remember from my childhood is gone, like tears in the rain.

everywhere charges for parking now.

well the square (imagine paying for parking at the fucking square), and liffey valley do in anyways
Square is cheap though, just €1 which is handy given that all the other car parks in the area are regular Dublin prices and there’s no on street parking.

I could forgive a tokenistic €1 for parking. Seems fair

i think liffey valley had an issue with unofficial park and ride.
but if you own a shopping centre on valuable land, having a car park taking up a huge chunk of that land, and no direct income from the car park.. it's a weird one because on the flipside they want the customers to drive there. customers who get their on foot/by PT/by bike, have less capacity to carry things home.

Rishi, Farage et al like the metric system. Saying I have x millions in the bank is so much easier than using, I dunno, a bunch of fractions. They like all those zeros

I mean, it's Public Relations, right?

It's MAGA for the the English. Nobody actually wants any of that Imperial noise. They just want to hearken back to when Churchill could be a racist, and they could beat their wives, safely assured that their chaps running the empire will keep things shipshape.

It's nostalgia for an imagined past.

Creamy old England

Having worked with yanks and the occasional old fashioned brit, the imperial system, as a default system, can feck right off.

how fucking tone deaf was this? they tried to suggest she'd be unwelcome at a ceremony in her own country.

Weird. I've read worse things about him though.

Nah I can't stand that shite, but i'm pretty certain the show at large entirely exists based on prolonging extreme views that make reasonable enough punch and judy shows but do nothing of benifit for NI
