C'mere, and this is probably a question mostly for @billygannon, y'know British democracy right? The one that's collapsing today.

Is there an iron-clad legal basis for it or notionally could Liz just go, "enough of that, I'm declaring absolute power for the monarchy" and the only thing stopping her is that it'd probably be a bad thing to do and running the country would be a hard job for her?

She can't do that. Magna Carta, Cromwell's parliament and lots of subsequent legislation and procedures means the monarch is a figurehead with minimal powers.

I don't there's going to be a polite way out of this.
 
Who'd have thought the empire creating, slave owning, nazi-befriending, appointed-at-birth monarchs wouldn't be woke. And after Netflix created that show about them and all.
