BREXIT (12 Viewers)

Anyone else not really give a shit about the consequences of this or is it just me?

of course. I think the consequences for Ireland, in the long term, will actually be positive, but fuck that. I feel sorry for all the decent folk of Northern Ireland, England and Wales who have landed themselves in a world of shit. Scotland will leave the UK so they'll be grand.

It also means there'll most likely be a right-wing government in the UK soon.

It's weird my bolshie friends are as anti EU as the far right, yet Brexit is being viewed solely as a victory for the right. Does sovereignty necessarily equate to xenophobic nationalism?

Did it really boil down to "no to immigrants "?
this. Yes. It was too easy for 'Leave' to peddle fear based on this argument.

I just had an argument with some (generally capitalist) friends of mine. I argued that a decision like this should never be put in the hands of the working classes. My point being that they are more likely to believe lies spouted by the liked of Boris and Adolf Farage. They accused me of having nazi sensibilites by saying that, but they completely missed the point. This referendum should never have happened. A decision this big, with the massive implications should never have been put to the people, with the demographic disparity Britain currently has.

This is a fucking disaster.

johnson, farage, et al just now:

At the risk of a knee-jerk reaction, this has just put the entire EU project at risk. Billions of people waking up to massive uncertainty about the future. Thanks lads.

I'm worried about the consequences for the world, tbh. Are other countries gonna start leaving now? Environmental destruction and nationalistic militarism are 2 things the EU has been pretty successful in curbing in Europe. There's more at stake here than economics

Are you saying the working classes shouldn't be allowed to make big decisions?
I think the vote was swayed by lies. Thats my problem and thats the problem I had with the vote taking place.

But I guess the argument is there that it is the responsibility of the referendum commission and those leading the other side, to make sure people are educated.

I just feel that this was carried based on untruths that the working classes believed.

This referendum was carried on the immigration issue, and its potential knock-on effect to lower-paid jobs and social welfare. Nothing else.

I had to walk past Downing Street on the way to work this morning. There were only two gobshites waving Union flags though so that was something of a relief. i was fearing some sort of nightmarish victory party taking place. Fuck this shit.
