Best Gig/Album/Song of 2015 (1 Viewer)

Dammit Sleepy, i'd forgotten both the Manics at EP and Tune-yards, they were indeed both excellent gigs!

Aye, there's been a lot of good gigs this year. I hadn't seen the Manics in over 10 years and they sounded better than any other time I'd seen them. I think having the 2nd guitarist helped.

Kendrick Lamar's is although I don't think it transcends listening boundaries where yer ma is suddenly gonna turn off Adele and get mad into rap.

I've listened to 3 of them
Two here (Joanna Newsom and Kamasi Washington). I did learn that Kendrick Lemar is a man though, I thought Kendrick was a lady name. Most of that list could be fictional, I feel like over the past 5 years that me and the cutting edge of music have parted ways.

So anyways, I did a podcast with some good shit from 2015:

Song
I'll go for "Listening To Singing" by Iris Dement for the joyful way she sings the line "It's as if the grave were not at hand"

One of my favourite songs a da year

Gigs
Ghost, Glasgow. Mind blowingly good.
GAMAK, Limerick. Great lads.
Ryan Adams, Olympia. First night.
The Gloaming, NCH. Got to bring my parents.
Courtney Barnett, Whelans. Surprisingly wall of soundy. Turned whelans into something better than it usually is. She was also smoking hot and totally charming.

Albums
Ghost, Meliora.
@GO, Tall Tales, Tidy Towns.
Courtney Barnett - that one she released.

Disappointment of the year was Wilco's Star Wars. I'm still glad they are making music, and they had been on a hell of a run up to Sky Blue Sky. It was always unlikely that they could keep that going.

A year of radio for me

I listened to too much music to pick something. A lot more classical + experimental stuff (some Kelly ensemble, blue of the night, Nova)
Att on RnaG, spin alt on Sunday morning.
BBC r2 + r4 for night time driving.
Mythology podcast for crashing out.
Explored a lot of Irish stuff through my own show and that became my headphone playlist.
BBC did a three day top 500 classical countdown thing that was great around Easter.

Dream wife @ roisin dubh and my fellow sponges @ taibhearc theatre were the most memorable gigs.

@ann post which mythology podcast is that now? I tried two of them and they were both the worst thing in existence. I got so angry at one that I got my girlfriend to listen to it just so I had someone to complain about it with.

also way to cop out "i listened to too much stuff" ffs

It's called 'the mythology podcast'. To be very clear, I listen to it because I fall asleep, not because it's good.
