best cover version in history (2 Viewers)

not sure if its the best cover in history but new found glory do a skanky version of snoop doggy dog's gin & juice and its top notch.

Sorry it will have to be a list in no particular order either

Goatsnake-Heartbreaker-originally by Free
White stripes-Joleen-Dolly Parton
Hellacopters-City Slang-Sonics Rendezvous(in fact hellacopters do loads of amazing covers)
Led Zeppelin-werent they a blues covers band?-joking I  Zep
Muddy Waters-Walkin blues-Robert Johnson
Kyuss-Into the void-Black Sabbath
Clapton-Classical Gas-not really cover cos its a standard but its great
Melvins-goin blind-Kiss

ah there so many.covers are great when they are done intrestingly and well but they suck when they are bad.

Oh yeah "The Holy Riff" do a mean version of Into the Void aswell;)

no fair, you're picking all the good ones

I almost prefer fischer spooners 15th for wires, sounds well spacey

Don't Let Our Youth go to waste by galaxie 500 would be one of mine

and proably Nina Simone's The Times They are Changing is aces

Best ever: Jose Gonzales - Hand On Your Heart (the kylie song) which proves that sometimes under all the crappy chart production there's a real song hidden underneath.

Other contenders:

The Notwist - Johnny and Mary (especially the addition of the thrash metal bit in the middle)
Beck - Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime
Johnny Cash - Wichita Lineman
Faith No More - Midnight Cowboy

China Drum doing Wuthering Heights

Channel Four's teletext will back me up on this one,
its the one thing we agree on.

Afghan Whigs - TLC's Creep
Greg Dulli and The Twilight Singers - Hyperballad

Hmmm, non Whigs related...
The Frames - Hotel Lounge
The Guys on Grafton St - Hallelujah (melts my heart every time.... every time)
William Orbit - Barber's adagio for strings

But seriously...
Red House Painters - Star Spangled Banner

Almost everything off Whore, the people doing Wire covers album, particularly the Band Of Susans, Laika, Main, Godflesh, My Bloody Valentine and Lee Renaldo ones.
