Durrr. Not to mention the insanely high cost of living here is the reason we have high minimum wage/welfare. If Rent allowance was easier to get them it wouldn't be so bad, but they're cutting that too.

Rent allowance ups the cost of the rental market as far as I can see. A lot of people I know, me included sometimes, live at home or with relatives because rent is so expensilive, in spite of the over supply of accommodation and empty houses and what not. I know it's not all down to rent allowance, but the state subsidising landlords (spit) can't help.
