what are the neck intervals based on?
I'm very tempted by it tbh - i need to reflect for a day thoughYou mean if it’s based on a specific instrument.. not really.,
I looked at ‘commercially’ available microtonal necks.. and took the additional placement up to the 13th fret from them
The specific placements I used an online calculator. Asked for a 1/4 tone placement and copied the ones I needed onto a standard 25.5” scale

You coward.for the next build I think I will combine this:

4 string baritone guitar
You can see the making of this guitar in the ‘ anatomy of a build post ’ Single piece reclaimed pitch pine body from a Victorian hospital b...ejcinst.blogspot.com
with this...
![]()
Hollow Bodied Tenor Guitar
Back sides are mahogany, top is englemann spruce. Neck & blocks makore, bracing spruce. Fingerboard is rosewood, position markers are old st...ejcinst.blogspot.com
I have the materials for another hollow body sitting in the shed - the cost of shipping was so much relative to the cost of the timber I bought double.
@magicbastarder - would I be able to avail of your bandsaw skills at some point over the summer to cut another form??

doesn't look much like a guitar to me...
i was just about to (finally) hit reorder on the parts i used for the tele build, on thomann; but the truss rod is not in stock and won't be back in stock for a few weeks. it's the one part i need first to get started again...
As ever let me know if you need any bits and/or bobs. My biscuit tin of fret magic is at your disposal, and indeed has had a few useful additions since you last borrowed it.you know, i was a mite tipsy when i posted that and just hadn't thought of checking gear4music. ordered now anyway.
the guitar body i've made for #2 isn't as nice as the first one, but i'll plough on. i've made the damn thing now anyway. it's a dark wood and i've ordered a tortoisehell, and a green patterned pickguard, and will decide on which to use when they arrive.

i might do some bog oak volume and tone knobs, if i have some sturdy enough.
if you were still in the market for a bench - apparently mcquillans in blanch are closing, all stock must go. dunno if they're flogging benches for cheap.build. To maximise the space in the shed I'll probably have to.
If I had the space I would actually consider some of the woodworking benches you see in McQuillans and the like, factoring in materials cost they are not that expensive.
However - given what I do it would be like having a 6K gibson on the wall that was only used to play wonderwall in the house once a year

back up and running. one of the woodturners i know had some rosewood sitting in his shed for the last few decades and was glad it could find a use, he cut off a slice and donated it for the fretboard.

TFW you're planing some extra meat off the fretboard and realise you're planing through the fret slots you've cut.
