the second last one looks like it should be brought here

So Stockhausen, Tod Dockstader, Laurie Spiegel, Michael O'Shea, Beate Bartel and Chrislo Haas (his techno stuff is not so great tho') are still cool.

Sorry for saying ambient techno was a bit crap. Y'all knew that already.
Such as? (in your mind rather than the list from bandcamp..)
The 90's ambient stuff I posted wasn't any good, was it Moose?

Sorry the only post I seen was where you quoted me saying Eno and Warped Records. I haven't heard any 90s Eno and most Warp stuff isn't ambient to my knowledge but there's defo lots of good stuff on that label whatever the genre. Of course they released Aphex Twin too.

Seeing your other post now. The Orb I really like, seen them a couple years ago and they were great and yeah they had a #1 album in 92 with U.F.Orb.

I like lots of Autechre stuff now but wouldn't be sure of albums, I just go see them when they play here and usually really enjoy whatever they do.

Cheers for yer response. There was lots of this type stuff of around then and why it got so much attention over other genres of electronic music is a mystery to me. That is an added grudge I have.

Warp Records is probably the answer there too along with Chris Cunningham's videos.
I still thought Warp* was based in Sheffield until a few years ago. Also for years I couldn't understand how many bands were recording in Steve Albini's basement**.

* in London since about 2002.
** Moved out basement studio in his house in the 90's

Ambient album about airports played as airport ambience in a dedicated concert setting in an airport. Terminal postmodernism.

I wonder if this is what it was like when people started singing sea shanties at ports.

I wonder more is it beacause there is little communal work in air travel in comparison to acoustic sailing that it in reality doesn't really have it's own genre. Or maybe it does.

i saw boac orchestra doing music for airports in schiphol around 99. the irony of ambient music performed by a live band wasn't lost on me at the time. the sound disappeared into the aether that is the huge ceilings of the airport. the overall experience was very much meh

Checks in.

I went to see autechre in the TBMC years ago ( just looked it up, 08.06.06) Was there with friends. I didn't really know their stuff (still don't) After a few minutes of some rumbling noise I remember asking were they having technical difficulties, eh No. That was one of their tracks. Must give them a fresh listen.

8th April you mean? They played a late gig which worked for me as Whitehouse were in the Voodoo Lounge earlier in the night. Whitehouse were great fun but Autechre were so boring. My friend fell asleep on the edge of the stage.

Apparently they were having technical difficulties - something broke and they couldn’t load up new samples into their sequencers so just had to mess about with what was already loaded.

I feel asleep at Underworld in the mean fiddler or whatever it was called at the time. It had been a long day for me and yer man was attempting to sing, and do his larger larger bullshit.
