I think it was in 2003 as part of the Euro 2004 qualifiers.

I just watched the highlights of Portugal-England from Euro 2004. I'd forgotten that Ricardo took the last peno in the shootout straight after saving from Vassel. Class.

Ricardo is one of my favourite keepers of all time, simply for his exploits against England.

Vassell's penalty was woeful. The class bit is that Ricardo rubs salt into the wound by showing him how to take a spot kick and sends England packing in the process.

I got to watch this on a giant screen at Glastonbury surrounded by 50,000 or so English. Made my day.
