Can't seem to find the info and I'm running out the door to work now but does the Microsoft HD DVD improve the appearance of regular DVD's on a standard TV and is it region-free?
I've heard people say it but find it hard to believe.

This is what i could find

HD-DVD is Region free for now and most likely forever. Either way all players without regions will be grandfathered in if they ever adopt region coding.

Note though, for DVD playback the drive adopts the region coding of the X-Box it is connected to.

So HD-DVD region Free, DVD Region filled.
