Catchy as fuck. Reminds me of Brit-pop bands like Cast crossed with maybe Northern Irish poppunk

I didn't twig til I read it just now that Chris DeBurgh took this melody for A Spaceman came Travelling

O'Hara's recording of "Óró Mo Bháidín" is sampled in Passion Pit's 2008 single "Sleepyhead" and Sub Focus' song "Safe in Sound" from the album Torus. The melody is also used in Chris de Burgh's "A Spaceman Came Travelling" as part of the chorus

Re: Black Betty (from Wikipedia)

Bill Bartlett then formed a group called Starstruck. While in Starstruck, Bartlett took Lead Belly's 59-second long "Black Betty" and arranged, recorded and released it on the group's own TruckStar label. "Black Betty" became a regional hit. Producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeffry Katz in New York formed a group around Bartlett called Ram Jam. They re-released the song, and it became a hit nationally. The Ram Jam version was actually the same one originally recorded by Starstruck (albeit significantly edited to rearrange the song structure). The song became an instant hit with listeners, and reached number 18 on the singles charts in the United States and achieved more success in the UK and Australia reaching the top ten.

In short the bell sound they used is slightly sharp of E, so they had to tune their guitars to the pitch of the bell.

An Irish pop oddity

Ex-members of Horslips got together to help raise funds for heat fanzine which U2 manager Paul McGuiness was suing.

The Defenders were a band formed to help raise money for “Heat’s” court case with Paul McGuiness
Paul sued “Heat” after it published an article about him. Most of the copies of the magazine had the offending article removed before they hit the newsstands. Unfortunately, a few of the issues reached the newsstands before the article was removed.
