I'm having my very first ever listen to the jesus and mary chain right now (Psychocandy). Very underwhelming altogether, boring and shit even... and this is their best effort? Sounds like mazzy star without the tunes.
this thread is getting troublesome now. the proclaimers are cool. the first album is deadly, the rest are over produced with bad session musos but the songs are still often top notch

It was a good few years before Mazzy Star, that's a bit of an unfair comparison. Can't imagine what it would be like hearing it for the first time now, but when I first heard it, it was The Album That Changed My Life.
Spartacus by the Farm was the second album i ever bought. they were awful though.
