Who is the worst band ever? (1 Viewer)

the sleeve looked like a box of washing powder. Think it came with a free 12".

they were fun for a while though. Stepping Stone and Groovy Train remind me of fun but less prosperous times.

I had about five times more disposable income back then.

Some Candy Talking isn't on my LP. Or remastered CD.

Never Understand, You Trip Me Up and Taste Of Cindy are my favourites.

"Some Candy Talking" is on my cd, bought secondhand about '89/'90.

Anyway, yeah, the whole album is great but those are the most accessible for a first time listener.

Could this be the worst band ever..........

It was a good few years before Mazzy Star, that's a bit of an unfair comparison. Can't imagine what it would be like hearing it for the first time now, but when I first heard it, it was The Album That Changed My Life. Some people prerfer the later stuff when they could actually play their instruments and write songs longer than 2 minutes.

Speaking of which, and of Mazzy Star, a better place to start might have been Sometimes Always, featuring Hope Sandoval. Who was knockin' boots with one of the Reids at the time, William I think?

yeah, i didnt mean to suggest they were ripping off mazzy star or anything, i was just giving my initial reaction. They both have that woozy reverby distortion thing (TJAMC are a bit scuzzier of course, but not that much) and chilled/lazy singing. I understand that some albums have extra resonance becasue theyre tied up in your personal histoty. A-ha's Scoundrel Days is one from that time that I still love. Having no JAMC or Mazzy Star baggage though, to me theyre two random bands that sound much the same (imho).

By the way, anyone buying Puff daddy's perfume for rapists this year?

I got the men's one for free in work. Giving it to a mate for his birthday tomorrow night. (We only exchange shit presents). I imagine it smells like thousand dollar bills marinated in champagne and dusted with "realness".

Some good suggestions but I'm shocked that nobody has mentioned the worst band ever:

Dogstar
