i'd forgotten just how well ross perot did in 92 (the year clinton was first elected) - he actually got just over half the number of votes HW bush did. i'd say clinton would have been toast otherwise.
And Obama ran as a progressive. Yes we can.

Biden might be the first to win a moderate "nothing is possible" campaign, and he's had to pull out the Apocalypse card. Do you think "this is the most important election of all time" will work in 2024?

Ok ill stop now.

Pennsylvania Secretary of State presser on cnn now and she seems quite happy. She’s a Democrat.

All the progressive candidates (ie "the Squad") did really well, better than before; fifteen dollar minimum wage was passed in Florida by a supermajority; drugs legalised all over the place... those Fox News exit interviews...

I get it that they would have shouted Socialism, which they always do and they did anyway, but when asked people keep going for progressive tickets. I'm not saying Sanders would have won, but perhaps there is a lesson here? Does it not make more sense than all the headscratching and "I don't get it? Why Trump? Guess they must be thick."

@flashback?

I'm not sure you can generalize in that way, ie progressive candidates did well in NYC, therefore Bernie would have been OK.

I think @Cormcolash mentioned it earlier, but there's a reason that rural / midwest / WV voters don't like Dems, and it's because Dems have done sweet fuck all of those groups (in their eyes). The GOP noticed the vacuum, and propagated the Dems are elitist, Ivy league, pussies with no idea of what real work is. Not like the real men that live in x.

A side effect of them occupying this space, they've been able to fill it with their specific brand of fear. Americans have been taught fear for generations, there's always boogie men just about to jump out and get them. If it's not space aliens, it's commies, and if it's not commies it's pedophiles hiding in pizza shop basements. Fear comes naturally, but what the clever thing that was done was they've moved the fear to fear of feminism, health care, socialism and so on. They've turned black civil rights requests into fear of blacks overrunning their towns.

So the GOP owns those mindspaces, and they farm, and tend, and direct the fear. No matter what the Dems do, they were going to trot out the SOCIALISM! line, that's why they run the fear farm. With Bernie et al would stick fairly well. They tried it with Biden, but the fact that Biden has been a completely consistent right winger / centrist makes those allegations less sticky.

The way to fix this is whole thing is obvious, and relatively easy. The Dems have to set up small, regional offices in these towns, and simply do community service. Help local people. Help them with loans, help them navigate bureaucratic processes, help them with legal advice, help them with problems relating to alcoholism, or other addictions, help them with the outcomes of violence. Set up a thousand offices, in a thousand towns. Employ a few people per office directly, and make these offices year round local institutions, like a public library.

Well, to quote a Bernie meme, I am ONCE AGAIN not saying Bernie would have won. I don't know how many times i have to repeat this for you pricks. But the margins for the victory of these people went up, plus all the other stuff i said.

Yeah, the Bernie people say anywhere they did well took a year of boots on the ground organizing.Michael Moore called 2016 for Trump and was saying last week its going to be close this year because the Biden team were making the same mistakes Hillary made by not doing any of that. Combine that groundwork with people naturally voting in what they know is their own interests and...well we can dream.

Oh come on. They had a big massive election. Unprecedented!

People were writing things down.

No wonder it was a fraud.

Where would trump flee to to avoid prosecution before the end of his term?
I think Brazil.

A newly independant Scotland. His Russian friends would engineer a second Scottish independence referendum, which would succeed. They'd have a non-extradition treaty with the US, and so Trump could live out his days safe in the homeland of his filthy peasant immigrant ancestors.

I guess he's saying he's never going to accept the loss, and he's going to hold his breath and scream and scream until he makes himself sick, and keep suing until The Supreme court tells him he won.

If he can generate enough noise, and kick off enough violence, then when he makes a break for it and hops on his chartered jet to locations unknown, everyone might be focused on other things.

He mentioned the word violence a few times, he's saying the election is rigged, and he finished up saying "we can't allow this to happen". He's trying to kick things off, he'll keep at that for the next couple of months.
