Are you sre it was the vc30 212 chris?

Cos my research says its a heavyweight
Aw yeah, it's plenty heavy. It's a beast of an amp. Just the ht40 is bigger and an awkward whure of a thing to carry.

ooh thats interesting..I didnt realise the blackstars were so bulky

If it wasnt for all the stairs Ive to cope with I'd get the vc30 212

Holy mother of god thats a big amp!
Id say it sounds great though!

Y'know ,that Laney dosent look that big in that shot

Beautiful looking amps I have to say.

Smaller and lighter than my blackstar ht-40. The blackstar has more sound options, but tbh i would say the laney is more authentic. And easier for transport.

Lovely amp. Must get another loan of it.

I had a ht40 but sold it a few years ago. Good amps, well made but I just couldn't warm to the drive channel. It was just too modern metal sounding for me. I changed the pre amp tubes but the gain was still too razor edged.

Big cab on them as well. It wasn't much smaller than my jcm800 2X12

I not into the super high gain metal sound..nails down a blackboard time

My 1X12 LC30 is 2 stone 12 pounds. Kind of heavy but managable enough for luggin about.
Ill get that up the stairs no problem. My stairs are steep and kinda narrow...plus theres a bunch of steps up from the car park.

It would be a total shitshow humping a 2x12 even up

I have recently moved over to the drive channel, set to hardly any gain to just give me a light crunch before the pedals kick in. Previously I had been playing on the clean channel with it maxed out to give me the same level of dirt, but it was pretty noisy having it so cranked.

I dunno about it tbh. I like it, but it just feels like there are too many options. Always sounds good when I'm watching someone else play through it though. But when I hear the tones coming out of Anto's old Marshall stack...

I'm strongly considering buying a Fender Pro jr. They're part of the Hot Rod series I think. Anyone have any experience with them? Alan Sparhawk calls them the best budget amp out there which is high praise for me because he always has a phenomenal tone. I like the setup. Simple just tone and volume controls, nothing else. Get the rest from pedals but can rely on a good basic tone. And even though it's only 15w, as AP says, Fender amps are always pretty loud so still giggable.

I've got a hot rod deluxe, and I do like it but I'm not a fan of the drive channels at all and never use them. If I was going back and doing it again I might have bought a blues junior which I believe is very similar but without the drive channel.
Blues juniors are nice. I know several people who record with them.

New amp arrived today..! And its absolutely bang on!
Does exactly what I need no messing about.

Big thanks to @moose for the recommendation ..thats two for two on the amp advice!

Heres a photo of the new gig rig!

I'm getting a matching extension cab for it ,so it'll be a vertical 2 x12! Half closed half open. Just for the crack like.

Sounds kinda like an AC30 ..I may have to get a rangemaster clone or at least a boost of some kind and go full Rory..but currently its pretty sweet sounding.Could gig with it no problem.

Its surprisingly light as well! The VHT is nearly as heavy

Now I just gotta works on my chops and I'll be raring to go!
